Kyeong-tae chose not to go into details about how the AI might work, but it's likely that the South Korean company will develop some kind of voice-guided digital assistant that responds to queries.

Samsung, as is well known, recently purchased the Viv service, developed by the creators of Siri, and announced its intentions to integrate it into its products, from wearables to home appliances.

The company's move toward an enhanced AI assistant comes in response to the technology's growing popularity, as Google and Apple, among others, are trying to improve their own assistant services.

In light of the recent Note 7 fiasco, Samsung can't afford another failure with the launch of its next major device.

The South Korean company is expected to unveil its new Galaxy S8 phone at Mobile World Congress 2017 in February.
