Microsoft is expected to unveil the next-generation Surface Book in the coming months. A teaser posted by the company on Instagram a few hours ago seems to be the first confirmation that we are getting closer to the official announcement.
Although Redmond hasn't said much about the new generation of the Surface Book so far, the photo you see below seems to be the first evidence that Microsoft is preparing a new laptop with an improved hinge between the keyboard and the screen, to address the criticism it had with the first model.
Microsoft launched the Surface Book in October 2015, offering features like a detachable keyboard and a pen for easy drawing and writing. In order to make it easier to convert from tablet to laptop and vice versa, Microsoft opted for an odd hinge design, which was met with mixed reactions from customers.
While there were buyers who liked it, there were others who criticized the design, pointing out that not only did it look ugly but also that from a practical point of view it allowed dust to easily settle between the screen and the keyboard.
So today Microsoft released the first teaser of the Surface Book 2, which shows that the company has addressed the issue by adding a new hinge.
The image was posted on Instagram without any other details, and is titled “Your key to success.” Of course, it doesn’t look like any previous Surface model, so many believe it depicts the second-generation Surface Book, which is expected to be released in October 2016 (there’s no official announcement yet).
