On the Dark Web you can find websites that offer Hitman services. Essentially, you can hire a professional killer.
Since the Dark Web is accessed anonymously through the Tor browser, this gives the impression that the underground web is a den of lawlessness and that it is a dangerous place.
But, despite this, there is no evidence that these websites are anything more than an attempt to scam users out of money. The most famous hitman website on the Dark Web, known as Besa Mafia, has been revealed to be an elaborate and profitable scam.
But the "aetonychides" are not giving up. One of them has just created a new hitman site with a clever trick: in addition to trying to convince the naive that he has professional killers, he seeks to make money even from your registration on his website.
In the first announcement of the website called Ghosting-Place we read: “those who do not have any registration can submit a request to get an invitation key for the site, paying $50. The account they will create will last for 72 hours, without the ability to contact any of our partners.”.
So unless you have an invitation from a trusted customer you will have to send them money to a bitcoin wallet. Interestingly, the wallet address seems to be different for each person, making it harder to tell if the site has convinced anyone to pay to sign up.
The site appears to be new. A Reddit user named gphmsearch2 posted the URL of the site in a post on r/deepweeb, saying that if you're looking for murderers in Australia and China, you can go to Ghosting-Place. The same user advertised the site on the popular r/onions on Thursday
The website, according to its documentation, acts as a middleman and takes a 5 percent commission from each assassin. It even gives them the freedom to set their own monetary prices. There is a form for the would-be assassin to fill out and a small graph that supposedly shows the number of visits, or “contracts,” that have taken place over the past six months.
This may all sound a bit creepy and disturbing, but chances are this site is a scam. Most sites of this kind have been proven to be scams sooner or later. While the Dark Web is a good hiding place for drug dealers, it doesn't make much sense for a mini market of murderers to be online on a website.
It remains to be seen whether Ghosting-Place will successfully convince someone to send money blindly just for the chance to register and perhaps find a hitman within 72 hours.
