Exercise in a Box: Organizations and companies will be able to test their ability to thwart hackers and cyberattacks with a new free tool designed to prepare them against online threats, such as malware, phishing and other malicious activities.

The electronic tool has been designed by experts from the National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) of the UK's GCHQ, and comes to strengthen resilience to cyberattacks based on scenarios encountered in real conditions.
The tool, known as Exercise in a Box, is available to government agencies, small businesses, and emergency services. It aims to help public sector organizations and beyond prepare to defend their infrastructure.
“This new free tool will be vital in strengthening the cyber defences of small businesses, local authorities and other public and private sector organisations,” said Cabinet Secretary David Lidington, who unveiled the tool in a speech in Glasgow, Scotland.
Exercise in a Box provides a series of scenarios from common threats so companies can practice in a safe environment.
“The NCSC considers exercise to be one of the most cost-effective ways an organisation can test how it responds to cyber incidents,” said Ciaran Martin, CEO of the NCSC.
“By practicing the defense mechanisms you use, you can understand how effective they really are and where there is room for improvement.”
Organizations, companies and government agencies wishing to register to use Exercise in a Box can do so from the NCSC website.
