droidcon Greece 2016: Add the dates to your agenda and come and meet the champions who create top Android applications and are willing to share their knowledge with us, answer our questions and inform us about what's new in the world of Android.
Droidcon conferences give us the opportunity to hear about all the latest developments concerning the Android ecosystem directly from the top programmers working in large and important companies in various countries. It is an international event that takes place in 30 countries and is constantly expanding. Last year it welcomed Greece to its community for the first time and fell in love with the city of Thessaloniki
Following last year's successful event, which welcomed over 35 Android Experts from the USA, Russia, Turkey, India, Nigeria, the UK, the Czech Republic, Germany, France and Belgium, droidcon Greece 2016 is being hosted again this year at the NOESIS Science Dissemination Center & Technology Museum, thus sealing the collaboration and establishing the event as the annual technology event exclusively around Android in Greece.
This year's agenda includes:
- July 7-9 from 14:00 to 21:00 on the first day and all other days of the event from 09:00 to 21:00 | droidcon International Expo | free admission, open to the general public
At the international exhibition, visitors can see up close all the latest software and product releases as well as try out gadgets and original technologies that will be introduced to the market. The organizers of droidcon chose free admission to the public, thus giving everyone the opportunity to see up close and try out new products, services, original technologies, applications during the exhibition.
- July 7-9 from 14:00 on the first day until 21:00 and all other days of the event from 09:00 to 21:00 | droidcon Devs Alley | free admission for visitors, while for those interested in an interview free admission with prerequisite registration
At droidcon Devs Alley, programmers, engineers, innovators, architects/graphic designers, ITs and anyone interested in getting to know firsthand the trends and directions of technology companies related to HR (Human Resources) will have the opportunity to learn about available job positions and schedule interviews with exhibitors and special guests who are looking for executives to strengthen their team. At droidcon Devs Alley we will have a special workshop and sessions focused on HR, from “How to successfully build your tech resume” to “What tech companies will be looking for in the coming years”, the workshop will be hosted by leading recruiters and talent scouts, as well as experienced developers who will share their experiences with the audience.
- July 7-9 from 14:00 on the first day until 21:00 and all other days of the event from 09:00 to 21:00 | droidcon Startup Village | free entry for visitors. At droidcon Startup Village, entrepreneurs will present demos/projects/established ideas to the wider audience in a specially designed zone for them. This special zone will resemble an interactive sandbox, where entrepreneurs, startupers will have the opportunity to sell or share their ideas, services, projects to droidcon visitors and the wider audience. A series of workshops and sessions will be hosted by international and local VC investors, who will share their stories and adventures and advise the audience and startuppers from how to design their business idea to how to place it on the market.
- July 7 @19:00 | droidcon kick-off barcamp | admission is guaranteed with a droidcon ticket or barcamp only ticket. Free admission for selected speakers.
At the droidcon kick-off barcamp, selected speakers and innovators who will be there will be chosen by droidcon participants in order to share with everyone their achievements, their experiences or a project/idea they are working on.
- July 8-9, from 08:00 to 21:00 | droidcon main stage | various tickets available.
On the droidcon main stage, we will host special guests and exclusive keynote speakers, who will come from all over the world to share their personal achievements or the company they represent in the Android ecosystem. The speakers are top developers who have “created” new or “implemented” existing applications and successfully offered solutions through the Android OS and related tools. Usually they come from international companies such as: Google, Microsoft, Couchbase, Qualcomm, Intel, but this year we will welcome international champions to the main stage.
droidcon Greece 2016: This year's droidcon holds many surprises, from top-notch keynote speakers who will welcome the start of droidcon #2 in Thessaloniki, to internationally renowned exhibitors who will showcase the most innovative products and gadgets that use the Android operating system and it's not just about that: this year, in collaboration with the Google Developers Group Thessaloniki, droidcon will host the “Google I/O Recall”.
Google I/O is Google's annual flagship event, where the company presents which areas of its technology it will invest in, while also announcing the latest updates and developments regarding Android, material Design, Virtual Reality, and all the tools that could help a business or developer boost their activities.
Twenty-five speakers have already confirmed their arrival on the droidcon Greece 2016 stage, while the call for papers is still open. The first three speakers revealed by the organizers are: Ikram KELLA Head of the Google Women Techmakers for North Africa, Sergio Gutierrez, Senior Software Engineer at the Spanish company Karumi, Daniel Hartwich, Android Developer at the German company XING AG.
This year, droidcon should not be missing from your agenda as you will have the opportunity to learn about, try out and have fun with Google's newest products, services and tools, and more specifically Android-based tools that are already on the market or are planning to be introduced and made public in the near future.
With this annual event, the organizers, "Moonshot Lab", aim to strengthen the position of the Android operating system in our economy and highlight the strategic role it plays in the promotion and development of Thessaloniki and beyond.
