This week there have been several publications about whether the creator of Bitcoin is actually Mr. Craig Wright, or not.
On Monday, Australian entrepreneur Mr. Wright claimed to have created the digital currency, but failed to provide convincing evidence. The evidence he made public has led the crypto community to doubt the accuracy of his claims.
In response, Mr. Craig Wright stated that he would provide definitive proof that would show everyone that he is indeed Satoshi Nakamoto.
However, he did not keep his promise.
Mr. Wright states:
I thought I could do this. I thought I could end the years of anonymity and stop hiding. But as the events of this week unfolded and I was about to publish proof of my access to the first keys, I broke down. I don't have the courage. I can't.
Rumors began about my qualifications and character and I was attacked. When these allegations were proven false, new causes began. Now I know I am not strong enough for this.
I know this weakness will cause great damage to those who supported me, and especially to Jon Matonis and Gavin Andresen. I can only hope that their honor and credibility were not irreparably tarnished by my actions. They were not deceived, but I know that the world will never believe me now. I can only say that I am sorry.
