qBittorrent provides a free software just like µTorrent except that this particular application runs and offers the same features on all major platforms (Linux, Mac OS X, Windows, OS/2, FreeBSD). We could describe it as an alternative to uTorrent that works flawlessly on all platforms.
qBittorrent is based on the Qt4 toolkit and libtorrent-rasterbar. Qt is a cross-platform application development framework. Along with this new feature, the new application comes with new updated code in the core that will resolve issues with labels, temporary folders, and other basic features that some users reported as problematic when using previous versions of the client.
The qBittorrent application has been developed by volunteers in their free time. What you may not know is that sledgehammer999, who has undertaken the development of the project, is Greek.
Taking on the development of a project like qBittorrent means responsibility and a lot of work. Here is the response to the email we sent to the developer:
qBittorrent is a bittorrent client. I have nothing else to say :p”
Of course, there is no need to mention anything about qBittorrent. Those who don't know about it probably don't need to learn about it, and those who have it on their computers know very well how it works and what it can do.
We should mention that we are particularly happy about the involvement of a Greek programmer in the development and maintenance of such a project and we wish sledgehammer999 good luck, good work and good fun..
