SkyWall 100: Drones are starting and appearing more and more frequently, even in places where they should not be. Thus, recently, many are those who have focused on developing solutions that aim to keep drones away from fields, airports and government buildings.
Most drone countermeasure solutions have focused on aerial combat, but the SkyWall 100 takes a different approach. The goal is not to destroy the drone, but to capture it in the air. This is achieved with an air projectile that contains a net.
The SkyWall 100 was developed by a team of British engineers and features “cannon” that weighs 10 kilograms and can be mounted on the shooter’s shoulder. It operates with pressurized air and can launch a net high up to “catch” the challenging drone. It can capture a drone at an altitude of 100 meters.
The system uses smart software that automatically corrects the flight path and distance of the unmanned aircraft at the moment targeting occurs.
After pulling the trigger, the SkyWall 100 fires a projectile that contains a net, in order to become entangled in the drone's propellers before opening a parachute and gently bringing them down to the ground.
So far, nothing has been announced regarding the price or availability of the “weapon”, but the first units are scheduled to be deployed by the end of the current year.’
