Veritas Technologies operational separation from Symantec

Veritas Technologies, Inc. (NYSE: VTN) today announced that it has formally completed its operational separation from Symantec. The company now operates independently of Symantec, following the completion of an $8 billion deal to sell the company as a standalone operating unit to The Carlyle Group. The sale is expected to close in January 2016.Veritas

Veritas an independent company with over 8,000 employees and $2.6 billion in revenue, addressing the biggest challenges in backup, appliances, and information availability in mission-critical business data environments.

At the same time, it will develop new solutions that will address today's and tomorrow's complex IT problems. It should be noted that the web site www.veritas.com also operates from a separate domain where one can refer to information regarding the company's services and products.

The company also announced a new independent partner program, Veritas Partner Force. This new partner program provides consistency and continuity to the collaboration with existing customers, while also containing optimized elements for information management.

The program is designed to help Veritas' specialized partners differentiate themselves in the market and profit from it.

The goal is to maximize partners' profits, as well as stability, through more predictable methods of developing new partnerships in the information management market.

Finally, we should note that the updated version of the enterprise data protection solution, Veritas NetBackup™ 7.7.1, was also announced, which includes features that significantly expand the efficiency of data backup and recovery through cloud storage services, thanks to support for new cloud service providers and increased performance.
The latest version significantly improves the performance and interoperability of backups stored in cloud environments, such as those of Amazon Web Services (AWS), Google, Hitachi Data Systems (HDS), Verizon, and Cloudian. NetBackup 7.7.1 works ideally with VMware®, vSphere Virtual Volumes, Microsoft® Hyper-V, NetApp clustered Data ONTAP® (cDOT) and Microsoft SQL Server™ environments, while providing increased management capabilities that allow users to autonomously manage backup and recovery, using easy-to-use interfaces, in combination with other integrated tools.
