For years now, writers and directors have been talking about artificial intelligence (AI) as the end of the human race. It seems we are very close to it (!!!).
Scientists at the University of Illinois at Chicago managed to create a computer with technical intelligence that beat the mind of a four-year-old child on IQ tests.
Using an open-source system called ConceptNet, the scientists took the standard Wechsler Preschool and Primary Scale of Intelligence – WPPSI-III test that is commonly given to children.
This specific system is capable of assessing the cognitive function of the subjects and was implemented on a computer with technical intelligence.
The test also looks for any strengths and weaknesses in one's cognitive thinking.
According to phys.org, the computer managed to surpass the normal limits of a four-year-old. And while the score is high for a four-year-old's brain, it's well below the limits of the WPPSI-III test for a 5- to 7-year-old, so we may have to wait a little longer for technical intelligence to get a little smarter.
