ESET its has announced the acquisition of renowned data encryption company DESlock+ from its previous management and Shackleton Ventures Investment. ESET s solution DESlockbroad range of security solutions for businesses and consumers.
Data protection and privacy are among the top issues of concern for businesses and users, as government organizations, such as the European Union, strengthen the institutionalization of regulations that require businesses and organizations to implement security measures, including encryption, to protect their users' data.
“A recent survey we conducted among enterprises shows that 2 out of 3 enterprises recognize the need for encryption to be part of conventional endpoint,” said Ignacio Sbampato, Chief Sales and Marketing Officer at ESET.
"We have achieved great results by offering DESlock+ encryption solutions as part of the ESET Technology Alliance, and we believe that further expanding this partnership will satisfy our customers. The acquisition of DESlock+ will allow us to complement ESET's security solutions with a great encryption technology."
Headquartered in Taunton , UK, DESlock + specialises in advanced encryption solutions and first partnered with ESET two years ago when they joined the ESET Technology Alliance . “Encryption plays a key role in security and is the ‘treasure trove’ for a company’s sensitive information, as well as a user’s personal data,” said Palo Luka , Chief Technology Officer at ESET . “Our plan is to fully integrate the technology we have acquired into our business and consumer products, and to develop it further.”
The existing DESlock + team , consisting of 12 employees, is led by CEO David Tomlinson , who now becomes the director of ESET ’s Encryption Business Unit . Following the acquisition, ESET does not plan any changes to its staff composition, while all employees of the company are now members of ESET . “The team is very excited about its future within the ESET family ,” said Tomlinson . With the acquisition of DESlock +, ESET has added a new R&D location to its existing one, which will allow the company to hire “local” talent in the UK, where DESlock + is based.
The DESlock+ solution is a powerful, patented key management tool that offers a range of encryption features. It includes secure remote management based on a web browser, a mobile version for iOS®and a portable client, DESlock+ Go, which allows secure access to data on workstations that do not have DESlock + installed.
