Kaspersky Internet Security has received the highest “Advanced +” award from the independent AV-Comparatives organization, based on the results of a survey conducted by the research laboratory. The survey consisted of a series of tests designed to evaluate the impact of security software on a computer’s performance. 
AV-Comparatives' performance tests are conducted regularly and aim to assess the impact of security solutions on a computer's performance, based on various scenarios of a user's activities. The experts monitored changes in a computer's performance when copying files, creating data files, installing applications, opening Office and PDF documents, and downloading files from online sources. To ensure that the results were as reliable as possible, an additional check was carried out.
System performance was measured using the specialized PC Mark 8 application. Based on the test results, Kaspersky Internet Security scored 165.7 points and was recognized as one of the solutions with the lowest resource consumption.
All tests were performed on computers with an Intel Core i5 processor, 4 GB of RAM, a SATA II hard drive, and the Microsoft Windows 8 Pro 64-bit operating system, at their default settings.
The security solutions participating in the test were fully up-to-date and could use their own cloud services. During the test, the experts took into account specific features related to the performance of the products. For example, since in some scenarios, the scan is performed only when the anti-virus engine encounters the file for the first time, the test was repeated twice. Thus, the final result calculated how the product reacts to an unknown object and then its reaction when it encounters data for the second time.
“The fight against malware has much in common with medicine, as in both cases there is a cure and both have the same fundamental principle – do no harm. Without a doubt, the level of protection against digital threats is important, but the computer’s performance and user experience should not be affected by the security solution.

AV-Comparatives is not the only organization to have recognized Kaspersky Internet Security. In 2014, the solution also received the top “Best Performance Award” from the German research institute AV-Test.
