It's well known that the U.S. military uses video games for educational purposes. What's not so well known is that it's testing a new helmet that looks like the ones they wear in Halo.
The Helmet Electronics and Display System-Upgradeable Protection, also known as HEaDS-UP, may look like combat gear for some fictional interstellar war, but the helmet isn't for fun or games at all.

Developed by ballistics company Revision, the HEaDS-UP is a system that consists of a standard military helmet with expanded capabilities to protect the head, neck, and face. Add-ons include a see-through bulletproof visor and a chin guard. The entire set is bulletproof against 9-mm ammunition.
Most notable are the display technologies that can be projected onto the inside of the visor. While there are no details on what the internal transparent screen projects, it could be battlefield maps, targets, soldier health indicators, communications, etc.
