Microsoft recently decided to make a significant permanent discount on the Surface RT . In an effort to clear out its warehouses, it announced that it is also offering its refurbished tablet inventory from returns at very attractive prices .
The refurbished Surface RT at 32 GB costs $299 according to the company, while the 64 GB versions are available for $349.
What is the difference between a brand new model and a refurbished one? Microsoft explains on its website:
“When you purchase a refurbished Surface tablet, you get a reliable Windows device that has been carefully and meticulously examined by our experienced staff. All returned tablets have been re‑glazed and updated with the latest software and application versions, so they are as fresh as the day they were manufactured. We provide a one‑year warranty.”
At the same time, however, the company also reports that it is preparing the second‑generation Surface and suggests that if you are not in a hurry, you can wait a few months to get the new device.
