Russia's Migration Service may grant entry to Russia today, Wednesday, July 24, to Edward Snowden, who has been stranded at a Moscow airport since last month.
Snowden hasbeen living in the transit zone of Sheremetyevo since the day he arrived from Hong Kong on June 23. He filed a formal application for temporary asylum in Russia last week.
Requests to Russian immigration authorities usually take up to 7 days for an initial assessment, according to Snowden's Russian lawyer, Anatoly Kucherena , and they are hoping for a temporary permit that will allow him to leave the airport, as RT.
It usually takes up to three months for a response from the Russian agency to asylum applications. If granted temporary asylum, Snowden to stay in Russia for one year and must be renewed annually. If the application is rejected by the Migration Service, Snowden can appeal to the court.
