How many times has our patience been tested in an endless queue at the supermarket? The "miracle" scanner Rapid Scan has brought an end to the nightmare of long waits and standing , which, thanks to the automatic scanning of products at the checkout, eliminates all forms of inconvenience.

Thanks to its 360-degree field of view, Rapid Scan scans the barcode of products as they are placed on the checkout conveyor belt
According to British supermarket chain Asda – where Rapid Scan – the innovative scanner is able to “read” product packaging from different angles as it passes over the checkout conveyor belt. This means the system is fully automated and does not require the assistance of a cashier to successfully scan the required barcode.
"Vur" in the... bag
Rapid Scan can scan approximately 100 products per minute, which dramatically reduces the time until purchases pass through the checkout and the bill is issued.
According to its manufacturers, the Rapid Scan's field of view is 360 degrees, unlike the laser used by cashiers, which must be positioned in the right position to successfully scan the barcode. This means that the Rapid Scan is able to successfully "read" product barcodes, regardless of their location on the conveyor belt.
Despite the speed of service, however, a poll conducted by Asda supermarkets showed that 60% of consumers prefer "manned" checkouts due to the security they exude, especially in the case of large branches.
