Google Earth 7.1 was released earlier this week.
The big new feature in Google Earth 7.1 is that it supports the Leap Motion controller, allowing users to steer the globe using only gestures.
While it sounds interesting and functional, it's not something most people will use. However, one feature buried deep and still in the experimental stage is something most people can and should definitely enjoy, and that's photorealistic atmosphere rendering. The feature is disabled by default, but you can enable it from Tools > Options > Use photorealistic atmosphererendering.
This should give you some rather stunning views, particularly in areas with accurate terrain and 3D building info and with water surfaces.
