A 9-year-old boy from India has officially become the world's youngest Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist, breaking the record previously held by 12-year-old Babar Iqbal from Dubai.
The Times of India reports that Pranav Kalyan , a 4th grader at Willow Elementary School in California, has been writing software programs since the age of six and passed the ASP.NET Framework 3.5 exam on January 12.

“As a child, Pranav was fascinated by computers and games. He started writing small software programs at the age of six. He is adept at solving problems and this ability in mathematics helped him write programs,” says Kalyan, the boy’s father.
Becoming the youngest Microsoft Certified Technology in the world is no easy feat. The boy studied for the exam for a total of 18 months, spending about eight hours a day on his computer.
