This particular desktop is quite minimal, and Flickr user jsmorley explained that he wanted something a little more personal but not too over the top. The end result is this desktop that dramatically depicts a stormy sea and is also very easy for anyone to use.

What we're looking at is a Rainmeter desktop!
In case you don't know, Rainmeter is open source software distributed for free under the terms of the GNU GPL v2 license. It has customizable skins, such as memory and battery life indicators, RSS feeds, and weather forecasts, right on your desktop. Many skins are also functional, meaning they can take notes, list items, launch your favorite apps, and control your media player – all in a clean and unobtrusive environment that you can customize to your liking.
Rainmeter is both an application and a toolkit. The only thing that can limit you is your imagination and creativity.
In case you don't have Rainmeter, you can do the following:
- The image you can download from DeviantArt .
- The Rainmeter system .
- The TextClock2 Skin for Rainmeter.
And that's it! Only one skin, since the wallpaper creates the whole dramatic feel. Of course, if you want more screens for your stuff, you can always add them, but this clean image is very nice on its own and its installation is extremely simple.
