Microsoft's offer for the free upgrade to Windows 10 from devices with genuine copies of Windows 7 and 8.1 expired yesterday, July 29, 2016. However, if you are one of those who are slow to make decisions and woke up today with the desire to upgrade to Microsoft's super operating system, you can still get it for free, as long as you have a genuine copy of Windows 7 or 8.1.
Let's see how
The company has announced that the offer will continue to apply to customers who use assistive technologies. Microsoft did not reveal at the time whether there will be any requirements to be met for the free upgrade after July 29, 2016.
But today the free upgrade page to Windows 10 for customers who use assistive technologies is here.
The website states:
“For the general public, the free upgrade offer for Windows 10 ends on July 29. However, if you use assistive technologies, you can still get the free upgrade offer even after the general public deadline, as Microsoft continues its efforts to improve the Windows 10 experience for people who use these technologies.
With the Windows 10 Anniversary Update, we've taken some steps to improve the accessibility of Windows 10. To learn more, read the blog that details some of these improvements.
Before upgrading, contact your assistive technology provider to learn more about their software's compatibility with Windows 10.
If you want Windows 10 now and are ready to take advantage of the free upgrade offer, click the button below to get started.”
So with a simple “Yes, I use assistive technologies and I'm ready for the free upgrade to Windows 10” you can upgrade for free.
Microsoft says it can end the offer at any time in the future, but it doesn't appear to have decided yet whether it will do so.
Although the company cites a very good reason for extending this specific offer, it is essentially extending the one that just “ended.” Another trick to promote the operating system? We cannot know, but it seems that way, besides, we have reported many times from iGuRu.gr that the offer does not end so easily.
