[BSOD] What do you know about the Blue Screen of Death?

BSOD or “Blue Screen of Death” is an error message that appears on our screen when Windows OS fails to keep its promise to work smoothly without errors… basically, when our operating system crashes for some reason, the Blue Screen of Death appears.

[BSOD] What do you know about the Blue Screen of Death? BSOD

Let's learn everything about her.
How did it all start?

Have you tried Googling who created the Blue Screen of Death? The name of former Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer will come up, but it's not as true as Google thinks, and that's because of a misinterpretation of a report by Raymond Chan titled, "Who wrote the text for Ctrl+Alt+Delete in Windows 3.1?".

The reference is to the fundamental task manager software that started running in Windows 3.1, and had an interface similar to that of the Blue Screen of Death, which may have been the reason for the misunderstanding. Despite this, Raymond realized the mistake, and criticized BGR.com for "completely fabricating a scenario and publishing it as fact," in a post on September 9, 2014.

BSODs have existed since the days of Windows NT 3.1, and have made their appearance in later versions of Windows, as the ever-evolving development led to more frequent crashes, operating system instability issues, especially in the Windows 9x series, which saw the largest number of BSODs, all due to incompatible DLL files and Kernel bugs.

What causes the Blue Screen of Death?

The official name for BSOD is STOP error, and it is caused when some kernel level software encounters a problem, thus making a system restart an unavoidable scenario. BSODs are generally the result of hardware-related errors on a device.

Fight her!:

– Detect Malware: Maybe the real culprit causing your system to crash is some malware hiding inside your computer. Scan and remove the malware if you are frequently encountering Blue Screen of Deaths.

– Update your drivers: It's easy to blame the 'Malware guys' for everything that happens to us, but maybe we should also take a look at our drivers, maybe they are responsible for the frequent BSODs. Corrupted driver files can also cause BSODs and force your system to restart.

– Boot into Safe Mode: You can identify the driver causing the problem while Windows loads only the necessary services in safe mode.

– Use System Restore: Performing a system restore may prove to be an effective idea.

– Hardware Check: Check for memory errors using built-in tools. Check if your machine is experiencing high-temperature levels, use Piriform's Speccy to do so.

– Reinstall Windows: This is the last option and solution. If the above does not solve the problem, then the final blow for BSODs is to reinstall the Windows OS.
