Linkedin's app will look more like Facebook's

linkedin-2The LinkedIn app has undergone a redesign – but it still looks pretty similar to Facebook's.

Speaking at the company's Talent Connect conference, CEO Jeff Weiner showed off a completely redesigned app that focuses primarily on displaying news from the user's network, but looks similar to the Facebook News Feed.

The app is called "Project Voyager" and will be available for iOS, Android , and mobile web when it launches in the coming weeks.

Weiner noted that Project Voyager represents a significant departure from the current version of the app, which can feel fragmented. Instead, the new app features a simplified design that divides the app into five sections: Home, Me, Messages, My Network, and Search.

Similar to the recently redesigned Pulse app, the home feed will primarily display news shared by people in the user's network, as well as items deemed of interest to the user.

The new app also features a redesigned message reading section and users will also have the ability to exchange stickers and GIFs within the app.

The “Me” section allows users to easily keep tabs on statistics, such as how many people see their updates and profile, and how their contacts interact with them.

The CEO also showed off a new calendar feature that showcases how the company is using artificial intelligence in its products. Users who opt in to this feature will be able to receive updates about their contacts before meetings and other events.
