Samsung's new wireless charging pad charges your phone faster

The new Samsung Fast Charge Wireless Charging Pad is designed to be used with the company's two new smartphones, and offers a faster charging speed for compatible devices. However, it is more expensive.
Last week, Samsung announced its two latest "phablets," the Galaxy S6 edge+ and the Galaxy Note5. Along with the mobility created by the new GalaxyS, the Korean company has more quietly put an upgraded version of the Wireless Charging Pad on sale.

The new $70 Samsung Fast Charge Wireless Charging Pad looks exactly like its predecessor, but the thin, circular disc packs a major internal boost: Support for faster wireless charging using the Qi wireless charging standard. Earlier this summer, Qi announced a new, faster 15W wireless standard, which allows manufacturers to create chargers that deliver 3 times the 5W standard available in the majority of wireless chargers on the market today.
However, the new Samsung Fast Charge Wireless Charging Pad doesn’t appear to support the new standard’s full 15W.
From Samsung’s product page:
“The new wireless charging gadget lets you charge your Galaxy Note5 or Galaxy S6 edge+ device up to 1.4x faster than standard wireless charging devices, reducing the total charge time from 0-100% to as little as 50 minutes!”
This text suggests the new wireless pad offers about 7W of output (5W x 1.4 = 7W), and it should be noted that the smartphone you want to charge must also support the faster Qi charging. That's why Samsung specifically named the two new Galaxy, both of which support faster Qi power than any other Samsung smartphone, including the newer (and smaller) Galaxy S6 and GS6 edge.
