The Facebook Lite app is the light version of the social network, and when we say light, we don't refer to low-fat, but to the fact that it consumes less bandwidth, that is, it is a lighter version of the Facebook application. It is for Android devices and is aimed at developing markets.
The application requires only 1MB of storage space on the user's device, so it can be downloaded more easily if one does not have a large data package on their connection. and is optimized for low data consumption.
With the Facebook Lite app, the owner of an Android smartphone can view the News Feed, status updates, photos, notifications and other elements that one is used to having when interacting with the most popular social network on the planet.
In addition, it is suitable for low-end smartphones and for markets that do not have access to high 3G or LTE speeds.
The app was initially launched in January 2015 in Vietnam, Nepal, Nigeria, South Africa, Sudan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Zimbabwe, with Facebook announcing its global rollout. It should be noted that in the aforementioned countries and markets, the Android devices that are released are not high-end, but lower-end models, which work better with lighter apps, such as Facebook Lite.

This is not the first move Facebook has made towards developing markets, as its founder, Mark Zuckerberg, is behind the Internet.org initiative that seeks to provide Internet access to developing countries.
