Turkish hackers launch revenge attack on Vatican website

A group of Turkish hackers "broke down" the official website of the Vatican City to protest against Pope Francesco's statements on the Armenian Genocide.

Turkish hackers have taken down the official website of the Vatican City in retaliation for Pope Francis' recent statements on the Armenian genocide. The hacker group Herakles (@THTHerakles) announced that they will continue their attack against the Vatican City website until the Pope officially apologizes for his statements.

“We want the Pope to apologize for his words, otherwise rest assured that the website will remain offline,” one of the hackers Hackread.

The Pope's statements on the Armenian genocide have angered the Turkish government. Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu called the position of the head of the Christian Church "unacceptable", confirming that his statement is "out of touch with both historical facts and the legal basis".
