The Integrated Information System (IIS) of the National Criminal Registry is in productive operation and being utilized by the Ministry of Justice, Transparency and Human Rights , the operation of which was presented today at an event at the Bank of Greece building .
The modern information system covers the broader scope of the Criminal Registry and through it, the Criminal Records of citizens are registered and systematically managed by all the First Instance Prosecutor's Offices of the country in a direct, effective and transparent manner.
In the context of the event, the Minister of Justice, Transparency and Human Rights, Mr. Charalambos Athanasiou, referred to the importance of the work of the National Criminal Registry, which contributes to the consolidation of the concept of the Rule of Law as well as to faster and more effective service to the citizen.
As Mr. Athanasiou emphasized: "Today we are sending a strong message: The qualitative upgrade of the services provided to citizens is our main goal. Strengthening the sense of security and trust of citizens in the Greek justice system and strengthening the rule of law is our main concern. This is another important step we are taking in the effort to upgrade Justice through the possibilities offered to us by technology. At the Ministry of Justice, e-justice is our strategic goal and the first results are beginning to be seen and made available to Judges, Lawyers, Public Services, but primarily to citizens. We continue our tireless battle against bureaucracy and delays and will soon be able to present our other initiatives in this field."
For his part, the Secretary General of the Ministry of Justice, Mr. Nikolas Kanellopoulos, emphasized that "Greek Justice is changing its image, changing its style and, above all, changing its era.
Electronic Justice does not belong to “virtual reality”.
It is no longer a utopia, but a tangible, tangible tool in serving the interests of the Citizen. The National Criminal Registry is functioning and constitutes another tangible example of the transition of Greek Justice to the new era.".
The system, which covers 165 First Instance Prosecutor's Offices, First Instance Courts, Appeals Prosecutor's Offices and Courts of Appeal across the Territory in 63 cities of the Country, has been implemented with the aim of simplifying internal procedures for the competent Services, limiting costs and providing fast and effective daily service to thousands of citizens who request a copy of the Criminal Record across the Territory.
The project was implemented by the Association of Companies Uni Systems and SingularLogic and was co-financed by National and Community funds through the National Strategic Reference Framework (NSRF).
