Attention! A new email with the subject line, “You have received a new fax”, and an attached PDF file, has been circulating for a few hours. The message appears to come from EPSON and of course contains a script with a virus, which can infect your computer.
The attached file “fax28173112.pdf”, is in no way a PDF, but a .zip file, which contains the virus. As soon as the user opens the file and unzips it, the script starts running in the background and immediately those behind it can gain full access to your computer.
In case someone has opened it, it is advisable to perform a full scan of their computer with an up‑to‑date anti‑virus program and remove any unknown program that appears to be running.
