Spam exploits Michael Jackson's second posthumous album

tromaktikoAccording to a Symantec report, spammers exploited Michael Jackson's second posthumous album, creating the corresponding spam email campaign.

More specifically, this spam campaign uses a simple e‑mail that is crafted to look like a personal e‑mail. It uses Michael Jackson's name and some of his song titles to create attractive messages for the e‑mail subject.

The content of the e‑mail contains a link together with a general comment while the message is signed by a name, in an attempt to give the impression that a known person is the sender of the message with the link to the new music album.

$ Planet Earth (Michael Jackson poem) $
List of songs by Michael Jackson *
List of unreleased Michael Jackson songs *
[Hold My Hand (song by Michael Jackson and Akon) ]

According to Symantec's report, more spam is expected in the near future that will exploit this news and believe it is part of phishing attempts or that it contains malware. Here are a number of tips that Symantec recommends to avoid such spam attacks:
Do not open e-mails from unknown senders
Do not click on links in suspicious e-mails
Never give personal information to suspicious websites, as they may have been created for phishing purposes
Keep their security software updated to stay protected from phishing and malware attacks
