According to reliable information, Microsoft will start selling the Xbox One video game console in China starting in September. The news is confirmed by the following video, which was posted on the official Xbox YouTube channel:
Last year, Microsoft announced a partnership with China's BesTV. Cooperation between domestic and non-Chinese companies is now allowed under the newly established Shanghai Free Trade Zone, which aims to encourage new and as much foreign investment as possible.
China had banned the sale of consoles and video games from foreign manufacturers since 2000, citing that interactive entertainment could negatively affect children's physical and mental development.
However, China announced this year that it would lift this ban, a move that opens the door to the world's most populous country to international businesses - giants such as Sony, Microsoft and Nintendo.
This decision allows foreign companies to now market their gaming machines in the vast Chinese market.
