The official Twitter of Julie Bishop, Australia's foreign minister, has been hacked. The attacker posted a series of tweets in an attempt to trick Bishop's followers and redirect them to a phishing website.
The account was hacked on Monday morning (Australian time). The hacker posted the following messages through the account:
“I'm laughing so much right now at this,”
“LOL u got 2 read this, its awesome,”
“I am lol'n so hard right now at this,”
“lmao you gotta read this, its epic”
"haha this blog by you is crazy."
All messages contained short links that led to a page asking the user to log back into Twitter.
The minister has confirmed that her account was hacked. The links soon stopped working, however, it is very likely that many users were deceived.
