They cite evidence that shows the popular website is monitoring our private messages.
An American lawyer and an activist blogger from Oregon have filed a lawsuit against Facebook, citing independent research evidence showing that Facebook is allegedly automatically reading users' private messages - when they contain links to other sites - in order to promote advertising content and increase the likes of specific pages.
According to the BBC, Facebook dismissed the accusations as "baseless" and intends to vigorously defend its reputation in court, even though it has faced accusations of data breaches in the past, having been forced to adjust its privacy policy several times.
The plaintiffs are seeking either $100 in damages for each day that Facebook allegedly violated its users' privacy or $10,000 for each American citizen who claims to be affected by the popular social network's alleged privacy violation.
