Jeffrey Epstein arranged a meeting with Tim Cook for the former Windows chief

Emails released by the Justice Department on Friday appear to show that former Windows chief Steven Sinofskynot only consulted Jeffrey Epstein for help in securing his $14 million “retirement” package in November 2012, but also for his work on future career moves at other companies like Samsung or Apple.

A document appears to show that a few weeks after Sinofsky's departure was announced, Epstein wrote to him saying that Apple CEO Tim Cook was "excited to meet him."

There was a problem, though: Epstein said Cook had heard that Sinofsky was starting a company called “farstall.” Epstein wasn’t sure of the spelling — many of his messages have typos — but it appears he was referring to former iOS VP Scott Forstall, whose departure from Apple had been announced a month earlier.

However, an email exchange six months later finds Sinofsky saying that he met with Cook and that the Apple chief told him “we need to talk when I want to work full-time.”

Among these messages, another email between Epstein and an “Ian Osborne” shows Osborne writing that “I’ll call in the afternoon. I was with Tim Cook in the morning.”

Osborne’s email address is blacked out, but it appears this message is from British investor Ian Osborne, who was allegedly a “fixer for billionaires” before launching a SPAC, Social Capital Hedosophia, in 2017 with Chamath Palihapitiya. Last year, the Financial Times reported that a court case in London revealed that Osborne and Epstein were sending emails in 2012 discussing lobbying politicians and bank executives in an effort to appoint “our friend” Jes Staley as CEO of Barclays.
