Android 16 brings a new design style to Pixel devices with Material 3 Expressive , but the update isn’t as significant on Samsung Galaxy devices. That’s mainly because One UI 7 recently brought a refresh to Samsung’s style, so One UI 8 is mostly a functional update with some new features and improvements.

Samsung began the stable rollout of One UI 8, based on Android 16, on September 15, 2025. The update is now available on the Galaxy S25 series globally and is also available out of the box on the Galaxy Z Fold 7, Flip 7, Galaxy S25 FE , and the Galaxy Tab S11 series .

Starting in September, Samsung is rolling out Android 16 to the Galaxy S25 globally. This includes all four devices, with the new Galaxy S25 FE coming with One UI 8 pre-installed. Ahead of schedule, Samsung followed up with stable One UI 8 updates for the entire Galaxy S24 series.

The Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Flip 7 are currently the only Galaxy foldables to get Android 16, with One UI 8 pre-installed on both. The Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Flip 6 have also been updated well ahead of schedule, though only in select regions.

Other Galaxy foldables will follow in October and November, according to Samsung's current schedule.

The new Galaxy Tab S11 series comes with Android 16 built-in, with the update expanding to other Galaxy tablets in the coming months.

  • Galaxy Tab S11 (pre-installed)
  • Galaxy Tab S11 Ultra (pre-installed)

The first Galaxy A series device to get Android 16 is the Galaxy A56, with more expected to follow in the coming weeks. The Galaxy A36 also followed closely in September.
