Opera has officially unveiled a new, groundbreaking browser called Opera Neon , designed for AI workflows and performing everyday tasks on behalf of the user – from online shopping and form filling , to code assistance and creative work.

The new browser is currently on a waitlist, with the company inviting interested parties to sign up to gain access when the service opens to the public. Pricing details.

At the heart of the Opera Neon user experience are three new buttons in the sidebar: Chat, Do , and Make.
- Chat acts as a built-in chatbot interface, allowing users to intelligently search the web , get instant answers to queries , and request additional information about the content of the web pages they visit.
- Do uses the company's Browser Operator AI agent , which was announced a few months ago. The AI agent is supposed to be able to perform tasks like filling out forms or handling your travel reservations locally in the browser.
- The “Make” stands out as one of Opera Neon’s most ambitious features, as the company promises that it can create websites, games, code snippets, reports , and more with just a few text prompts. According to Opera, the AI workflows that enable this feature run via virtual machines in the cloud, so Neon can work on tasks on its own even when users are offline. Additionally, users will be able to perform multiple tasks at once.

While these capabilities sound impressive, the actual performance of such AI functions remains questionable. In practice, many AI applications often fall short of expectations or their advertised capabilities.
Opera, however, is not alone in this technological field. “The Browser Company” has already presented, since December, its own AI-powered browser , focusing on AI agents that perform tasks on behalf of the user. At the same time, Google is also developing tools that integrate AI agents into its services, aiming not only at content search , but also at automatically performing complex actions .

However, the new Opera Neon browser is part of Opera’s strategy to redefine web browsing through AI-first experiences, competing with platforms that already integrate artificial intelligence tools into new-generation browsers. The “Make”, which allows for content creation and task execution with text prompts, stands out as an innovative attempt to transform the browser from a passive navigation tool to an active productivity assistant.
