Ask Silver: New tool to detect fraud

A new tool (Ask Silver), based on AI technology, has been launched to help users identify potential digital scams.

Ask Silver scams

Ask Silver is a smartphone tool that interacts with users via WhatsApp. Once they sign up, they will receive an email with a QR code. Scanning it opens a WhatsApp conversation.

Users should send a screenshot of the content they want to check (e.g. a potential phishing email, a suspicious link, a message, etc.) Ask Silver will tell them if it is safe or a scam (Red Flag).

Get Safe Online, which works with the creators of Ask Silver, says that if fraud is detected, the AI tool will suggest steps to protect users online and offer an option to automatically report the fraud to authorities.

“In this digital age where scams are increasingly sophisticated and fraudsters are highly experienced, we need to empower people with tools that enhance their vigilance and allow them to live, shop and buy without fear,” said Ask Silver founder Alex Somervell.

Somervell said that, together with Get Safe Online, they are further strengthening their commitment to online safety.

«This fantastic new tool is revolutionary and we recommend users download and save Ask Silver to their WhatsApp. It is so simple to use and will save you from scams.».

Victims of online scams are typically asked to reveal personal information or transfer money to fraudsters. These scams can range from phishing emails and SMS messages to fake websites designed to mimic legitimate businesses . The report highlights the importance of increased public awareness and education to help individuals recognize and avoid potential fraud, and the importance of collaboration between financial institutions, technology companies and law enforcement to effectively prevent and combat fraud.
