Hackers suspected of stealing of cryptocurrency from blockchain company Holographhave been arrested in Italy.

As announced over the weekend by the Italian police (Polizia di Stato), four people, who appear to be involved in cybercrime and money laundering, were living in a luxury villa in Salerno.

Holograph is a cryptocurrency exchange and platform web3 that facilitates interoperability across blockchain ecosystems. On June 13, the platform announced that hackers exploited a bug in a smart contract and were able to arbitrarily “mint” 1 billion HLG (Holograph’s token) and withdraw the amount in nine transactions.

Holograph had said that the hack was carried out by a former technical contractor and programmer, with inside knowledge of the protocol's functionality.
Arrests of suspects for the Holograph hack and seizures
Law enforcement had been monitoring the suspects for several weeks, observing their lavish lifestyle in Italy. They stayed in luxury villas in Sardinia, the island of Elba and the Amalfi Coast, visited expensive restaurants, rented private jets, luxury boats and expensive cars.
The European arrest warrants led to the arrest of two of the four individuals, who are now in prison in Salerno awaiting extradition to France. The other two were investigated but remain at large for the time being.
Police also seized private crypto wallet keys, passwords, ledger keys and electronic devices, which will be examined.

Some of the stolen funds may be returned to Holograph now that authorities have wallets crypto hackers'.
Following news of the arrests, the price of HLG increased. However, its current value is still far below its pre-hack levels.
