Chinese Police Investigate 2,430 Hacking Cases

Chinese police have cracked 2,430 hacking- related cases and arrested 7,092 suspects since 2022 in a campaign to clean up the online environment, the Ministry of Public Security announced on Thursday .

Police have launched investigations into criminal activities related to hacking in critical areas of people's daily lives, including intrusions into hospital registration systems, ticketing systems at train stations, tourist attractions and concerts, and the breach of personal information.

Statistics from public security reveal that the number of hacking-related cases reported to the police has been increasing for three consecutive years. In particular, there has been an average annual growth rate of 27.7%.

Hacking-related crimes do not only concern the intrusion and destruction systems , but also the support of illegal activities, such as telecommunications fraud, online gambling and pornography, the ministry. It is important to address these issues not only from a cybersecurity perspective, but also with a view to preventing involvement in illegal activities.
