If you have an iPhone 15 and drive a BMW, it might be best not to use the vehicle's wireless charging pad to charge your device for now.

Last week, some BMW car owners reported issues with NFC after charging the device on their BMW car's wireless charging pad. Affected customers report that the iPhone goes into data recovery mode, displaying a white screen, and that the chip no longer works after the device is restarted.

On an iPhone, NFC provides featuressuch as Apple Pay and digital car keys. Affected users are receiving an error message saying “Couldn’t set up Apple Pay” in the Wallet app, and there doesn’t seem to be a way to resolve the issue. Some customers are reporting that after confirming that NFC failed, Apple replaced their iPhones. However, the replaced iPhones remain vulnerable to the same issue. Therefore, this situation does not offer a permanent solution.
Although complaints have already been filed by users , it is possible that the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus are also affected. For this reason, owners of any iPhone 15 model should exercise caution until this issue is fixed.

It's unclear what the specific cause of the issue is, how many customers are affected, and which BMW models are affected. We've reached out to an Apple representative and will update again if we hear back.
