Apple: Self Service Repair expands to Mac desktops

Apple is expanding its Self Service Repair program to Mac desktops that have the M1 chip and Studio Display.

After launching its Self Service Repair program in the United States, Apple recently announced the expansion of its program to eight European countries. This way, customers can have easier access to repair services for their favorite Apple products from around the world. US customers now have the privilege of accessing manuals and spare parts for Mac desktop computers .

As first reported by Six Colors, the program has now expanded to include the Mac Studio, M1 Mac mini, M1 iMac , and the notable Studio Display.

Until now, AppleCare+ was only available for the M1 MacBook Air, M1 MacBook Pro, iPhone SE, and 12/13. This Self Service Repair is currently limited to US customers only – those residing in Europe will have to wait until later for additional device protection.

In April, Apple took a step forward in response to criticism of its company and regulatory requirements by launching Self Service Repair in the US. This service was originally intended for iPhone who needed repairs but did not have access to an authorized technician. Now, more than ever, customers have more freedom when it comes to repairing their devices!

Instead of taking their device to the Apple Store or a repair shop, Mac and iPhone owners can visit Apple 's website for affordable repair kits that include parts and instructions needed for DIY repairs .

While performing DIY on iPhones and MacBooks can be a daunting task, even with specialized tools and instructions, most users will feel comfortable doing so. However, many people still prefer to leave their devices in the hands of experienced professionals for more complex tasks.

You can rent a set of tools for Mac desktops and Studio Display from Apple 's Self Service Repair store for the affordable price of $49 each, but these must be returned after seven days.

AppleCare + is a service provided by Apple that allows device owners to get most repairs done for free. If you don't have the plan, you can still pay for repair services at an Apple Store or from any of the company's network of certified technicians. However, if you choose a non-certified store instead, be aware that Apple doesn't support this move for a number of reasons — a topic that has been hotly debated among tech industry experts and fans alike over the years.
