Google is adding 2 new features to Chrome to offer better performance and less battery consumption!

In the coming weeks, Google will introduce two Chrome performance settings to reduce memory and battery usage. Starting with Chrome version 108 on Windows , macOS , and ChromeOS Desktop devices – you can take advantage of this power-saving update!
Energy Saver mode
When your laptop's battery level drops to 20%, Chrome will enter Energy Saver mode to extend its life. It does this by limiting background activity and visual effects on websites that display complex visuals, such as animations and videos.
When the update is released, a striking leaf icon will appear in the top right corner of Google Chrome . Simply click it to enable Energy Saver mode before your battery life runs out and you’re left hanging! Don’t worry though – when your battery reaches 20%, this handy feature will automatically turn on to save power.

Memory Saver mode
Say goodbye to slow page loading with Google 's Memory Saver mode ! Perfect for those who often have multiple tabs open at once, this feature allocates memory resources where they're needed most – to the active tab you're currently using. It also remembers which inactive tabs were previously open, so when you come back, everything is ready and waiting for you just like before – no more starting from scratch!
Google has unveiled Memory Saver mode in Chrome that can reduce memory usage by up to 30%, providing users with an improved and faster browsing experience. How to update Chrome browser
The new update will be available worldwide in a few weeks. Follow these simple steps and you'll be up to date before everyone else.
- Open Chrome on the desktop.
- At the top right, select the icon with the 3 dots.
- Go to Help > About Google Chrome.
- Click Update Google Chrome. If you don't see this button, you already have the latest version.
- Once you've updated it, reopen the Chrome browser.
- In Settings, you will see a new Performance sidebar menu with these 2 features.
