Some players discovered an exploit in Destiny 2's latest event, allowing them to complete a 2-week event in 25 hours.
With just two weeks left until Destiny 2: Season of Plunder , Bungie has given fans a community event called 'Improving the Eliksni Quarters' . The event kicked off on Tuesday and was set to run until the start of the next season on December 6. However, players completed the event on Wednesday, just 25 hours after Bungie launched it .
The event challenged us to engage with the less popular content of Destiny 2 - such as strikes, PvP, raids, lost sectors - in order to collect donations in the form of materials and currency in a box in The Tower. These were then allocated to improving conditions for the Eliksni (“Fallen”) refugees living in the Eliksni Quarter. While it may seem at first glance like a chore to fill up game time, there is a fun cosmetic/narrative reward at the end, as well as free gear for participants.

As players donated money, various aspects of the Quarter would gradually improve. Not only players receive rewards for their contributions, but everyone would benefit from this kind of charity.
However, as players continued to play the game, they discovered that they could also donate other Season of Plunder, such as Treasure Coordinates earned by completing playlist activities in Destiny 2.Bungie ran into some issues here. There is an exploit in the game that allows players to create unlimited Treasure Coordinates, if they already have some to start with.
For some reason, when you trade an expensive treasure map (which costs Treasure Coordinates) for a special free map, Destiny 2 accidentally returns more than the required amount of Treasure Coordinates — it's like finding a five-dollar bill in your pocket.
This feat isn't a big deal, but if you do it repeatedly and quickly, you can fill up on Treasure Coordinates and then donate them. If a player had already unlocked the free treasure map and had the resources in Destiny 2 to purchase the expensive versions, they could generate hundreds of extra Treasure Coordinates every minute.

By donating 2400 coins, or Treasure Coordinates in this case, players can access all of their rewards, including an Exotic Ghost. Using the exploit for just 10-15 minutes would get you the Exotic Ghost, which in itself isn't a huge investment of time. However, when you factor in the fact that thousands of people were using the exploit at the same time, the donations started to pour in.
Bungie 's ultimate goal for the Destiny 2 event was 400,000,000 coins to be donated by the entire community. To reach that goal without the exploit, around 167,000 Guardians would need to donate at least 2,400 coins, which is a lot for an event where you're essentially doing something you've already been doing for three months. If the exploit hadn't been discovered, it would have taken players longer to generate those coins.
