Samsung Display is developing a new under-panel camera technology that Apple plans to use to hide Face ID under the screen in its new models next year, tentatively called the iPhone 15 Pro, according to Korean website The Elec .
While rumors suggest that this year's iPhone 14 Pro models will feature a "hole-punch" and a pill-shaped notch for the front camera and Face ID, today's report claims that Apple plans to create the iPhone 15 Pro models with a single hole for the front camera, with Face ID hidden under the display.

Samsung 's technology will make the sensors invisible to the naked eye, just like it hid the camera under the screen on the Galaxy Z Fold3 smartphone, according to the report. The under-screen camera disappears, almost magically, without altering what's displayed on the screen.
We'll have to wait and see if this form of Face ID will be as effective or secure as the existing system, or if there are different ways to implement it. Samsung is rumored to be working with OTI Lumionics to develop the technology.
The Elec said Samsung plans to first implement the technology in the so-called “Galaxy Z Fold5” to be released next year, if development is completed on schedule, followed by the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max.
