Acer today announced that it is upgrading three gaming laptops with Intel's all-new Tiger Lake H-series chips. The Predator Triton 300, Helios 300, and Nitro 5 all feature the 11th-gen silicon option, paired with updated RTX 30-series GPUs.

There's not much to say about the look and feel of laptops. And anyway, looks aren't everything, and what counts is what's inside.
All three models can be equipped with the new H-series chips, and for the Triton 300, you can choose NVIDIA and 32GB of DDR4 RAM. The Helios 300 and Nitro 5, meanwhile, have the same RAM options and can accept the RTX 3070 graphics card as a top-spec option.
It's worth noting the option to add NVIDIA's GeForce RTX 3050 and 3050 Ti, especially for those who aren't fixed on flagship graphics cards. These chips offer ray tracing and AI technologies for much less money compared to others.

Intel's H-series chips are designed for gaming and do a great job. However, the H-series has historically been plagued by higher thermal output, making them unsuitable even for portable notebooks.
Intel's adoption of the 10-nanometer process means these 11th-gen Tiger Lake H chips aren't all that bad. They may only be 15% faster than their immediate predecessors, but they can be used in a much wider variety of laptops.
And Acer has made the usual big deal about its cooling technology – with custom-built AeroBlade fans and better air duct layouts. Between the promise of increased performance and the current global shortage of desktop components, a reasonably priced laptop can currently offer an attractive proposition.

The 15- and 17-inch versions of the Acer Nitro 5 will launch in June, while the Acer Triton 300 will arrive in July. The base price for the Nitro is likely to be $1,099, while the Triton 300 will start at $1,699.
