At the Mi 11 event in China in December 2020, Xiaomi released the MIUI 12.5 update roadmap for some of its devices. Every year, the Chinese company divides its efforts between domestic and global update policies, and this year is no different from the previous ones. If you are looking forward to running the latest iteration of MIUI on your phone, then you are in luck, as Xiaomi has officially released the MIUI 12.5 update roadmap for its global portfolio of devices.
The good news is that the first wave of the update will be rolling out to various device series, from the latest flagship Mi 11 to last year's Mi 10 and Mi 10T series. However, if you don't own a premium smartphone , you'll have to wait a while for the update to reach your device. The Mi Note and Redmi Note series of devices are set to receive the MIUI 12.5 update in the second wave of updates.
The rollout will begin in Q2 2021, with the following devices receiving the MIUI 12.5 updates:
First wave of MIUI 12.5 update (Starting early Q2 2021):
- Mi 10T and Mi 10T Pro
- Mi 10
- Mi 10 Pro
- Mi 11
Second wave of MIUI 12.5 update (Starts at the end of Q2 2021):
- Mi 10 Lite 5G
- Mi 10T Lite
- Mi Note 10 and Mi Note 10 Pro
- Mi Note 10 Lite
- Redmi Note 9T
- Redmi Note 9 Pro
- Redmi Note 9S
- Redmi Note 9
- Redmi Note 8 Pro
- Redmi 9
There is no mention of Q2 2021 updates for any other Mi/ Redmi, but Xiaomi's tweet says that the company will add more devices to the list. However, looking at the rate at which legacy devices are still receiving the MIUI 12 update, we don't expect the stable version of MIUI 12.5 to appear on these devices within the next two months.
