If there is a particular slide in presentation that you think would be useful in other media, you can save it as an image and use it however you wish. To save a Microsoft PowerPoint slide as an image, you need to follow some easy and simple steps.
- First, open PowerPoint and, in the thumbnail window, select the slide you want to save as an image by clicking on it. This will cause a box to appear around the slide once it is selected.
- Then, click on the “File”.
- In the left pane, select “Save As”.
- On the right side of the screen, you will see two text boxes. In the top text box, enter the file name.
- In the bottom text box you will select the file. Click the down arrow to the right of the text box.
A drop-down menu will appear with various file types that you can save your presentation (or slide). Below you can see the image file types that you can choose from to save your slide:
- Animated GIF format (*.gif)
- JPEG File Interchange Format (*.jpg)
- Portable Graphics PNG (*.png)
- image TIFF (*.tif) tag file format
- Scalable Vector Graphics Format (*.svg)
- Click the image file type you want to convert the PowerPoint slide to. Then, select the “Save”.
A dialog box will appear asking if you want to export all slides as an image or just the one you selected. Click “Just This One”. The slide will now be saved as an image.
In addition to saving slides as images in Microsoft PowerPoint, you can also save objects on a slide as an image. Use this method if you only need specific parts of the slide to be saved as an image and want to keep the image file size smaller
