On Friday, Elon Musk tweeted :"Apparently aliens built the pyramids," and it garnered over 500,000 likes.

Following this statement, one of Egypt 's top government officials invited Elon Musk to see the ancient pyramids in person, after the Tesla CEO claimed that these historical landmarks were built by aliens.
This prompted a reaction from Egypt's Minister of International Cooperation, Rania al-Mashat, who personally invited the Tesla CEO to the country to see the pyramids and learn about history .
“ I follow your work with great admiration, ” Al -Mashat tweeted on Saturday. “ I invite you and SpaceX to explore the texts of how the pyramids were built and also to see the tombs of the builders . ”
«Mr. Musk, we are waiting for you.»
Elon Musk later responded, with a link to a BBC article detailing the lives of the people who built the pyramids, saying:
«This BBC article provides a reasonable summary of how it happened.”
But his previous tweet prompted more than one public figure to speak out in Egypt.
Zahi Hawass, the Egyptian archaeologist who discovered tombs at the Giza pyramids, said Musk's argument was "complete delusion," according to the BBC.
"I found the tombs of the pyramid builders, which tell everyone that the pyramid builders are Egyptians and were not slaves," Hawass said, according to EgyptToday.

The Great Pyramid of Giza is one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. It stands over 137 meters tall, and remains largely intact.
The idea that aliens built the pyramids is part of the unfounded "theory ancient-astronaut," which claims that intelligent extraterrestrial beings visited Earth in prehistoric times and built historical landmarks.
