Lately, there have been countless reviews on the internet of the Chinese company OnePlus for its recent OnePlus 8 devices. More specifically, several of the users have many complaints about the operation of their devices, as they also report problems with their screens.
The series come with a 6.78-inch QHD AMOLED display. The refresh rate is 120Hz, while the brightness is set at 1,300 nits. The company also says that the devices in this series are the first with 10-bit displays and can display more than a billion colors.
In reality, however, the high-end specs of the display seem to be leading to a lot of problems, as users are now noticing various bugs like green and black screens. Specifically, user “youpie123” on the OnePlus subreddit reported that his device’s screen turns green when the brightness is reduced

Meanwhile, another user reported a similar issue on the official OnePlus forum , explaining that when the screen is at 120Hz and the brightness is between 5% and 15%, dark apps have inconsistent color. However, when the screen frequency is reduced to 60Hz, the problem ceases to exist.
Details on the issues that have been observed so far can be found in this reddit post. Several users also report that the issues disappear when they enable the “DC Dimming” service, which proves that the problems are software-related and not hardware-related.
Recently, the company announced that it is working non-stop to fix the above issues. In addition to OnePlus, however, Samsung will also need to find a solution for the S20 Ultra series, as the devices use the same screens and similar issues have already been reported.
