The Chromium-based Microsoft Edge browser comes with some interesting new featuresthat promise to productivity user.
Microsoft recently stated that it is working on two features, called Vertical tabs and Smart copy .
Microsoft claims that the new features will improve productivity. Let's take a closer look at the two new features of Chromium-based Microsoft Edge.
Vertical tabs
The first feature is Vertical tabs. Tabs will be moved from the tab bar to the left side of the page and will be displayed in a vertical layout. Unlike traditional tab bars, the vertical tab bar allows for drag and drop, which allows users to easily organize their active tabs.
This feature is ideal for users who open dozens of tabs. When you open multiple tabs, there is less space to see their names. This can be confusing, cause you to spend a lot of time searching for the tab you want, or even accidentally close a tab.

“I find myself getting lost or accidentally closing a tab. Extremely annoying, as that’s usually the page I need,” said Liat Ben-Zur, Corporate VP at Microsoft.
With vertical tabs, you can find and manage multiple tabs at once, as you can scroll through the list and see the full tab names without getting confused.
According to Liat Ben-Zur, vertical tabs will initially roll out to Insider channels (Canary, Dev, and Beta) in the coming months.
The stable version of Microsoft Edge will get this feature later this year. If you can't wait, you can try the Chromium extension called "Vertical tabs", which offers similar capabilities.
You can install this extension on both Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge. If you want to install the Chrome extension on Edge, open the settings and enable the option that allows installation of third-party add-ons. Then, you can install the extension from the Chrome Web Store.
Smart Copy Feature
Edge is getting another feature called “Smart copy.” This is a pretty useful feature, especially for users who have difficulty copying and pasting web content (e.g. tables in documents and emails).
Microsoft says this feature will ensure that the text you paste retains its formatting. For example, if you copy a table from a website and paste it into your email using the Smart copy feature, the table will retain its original formatting.
This feature will be released to testers in the coming months.
