As all major antivirus service providers have stated, they do not intend to stop supporting Windows 7 , even after Microsoft ends its support .
Most antivirus software providers, with only a few exceptions, have announced that their products will continue to support Windows 7, at least until 2022, to provide users alternatives to protect their systems.
These antivirus products are absolutely essential now that Microsoft stopped issuing security, starting January 14, 2020, when it officially ended support for Windows 7.
The only ones still eligible for Windows 7 security updates are corporate customers, however this program, known as Extended Security Updates (ESU), is only available to select businesses and comes with a fairly high price tag
However, many smaller businesses, as well as ordinary users, will not be able to access this program, so it is very important for them to choose an antivirus program to be sure that their systems remain safe from any danger.
Continuing to use Windows 7 without being on ESUcarries significant security risks. Microsoft has been advising companies to move to Windows 10 and has also started pushing users to make the switch using pop-ups and ads since last year.
The table below includes all the leading antivirus vendors and the length of time their products will continue to support Windows 7.
The table was compiled by AV-TEST, a German antivirus testing lab, which leveraged its connections in the antivirus software industry and asked each vendor about their plans for supporting Windows 7.
