HTC has created an interesting 5G mobile smart hub, combining a 5G hotspot, Android hub, and battery into a single device. HTC's 5G Hub is primarily a 5G hotspot, allowing up to 20 users to connect to 5G connectivity and has an internal battery so you can use it anywhere.
The HTC, however, says that it is more than a hotspot. A 5‑inch screen (720 x 1280) that supports Android also turns it into a mobile smart hub, which looks more like the Google Home Hub or the Echo Show. Since it runs Android 9.0 Pie, you will be able to watch TV shows and movies from apps such as Netflix, or you can simply use the device's USB‑C port to connect it to an HDMI port on the TV.
This makes it ideal if you are traveling and want to watch something. Additionally there is a microSD slot for your own content and Wi‑Fi, so you don’t have to rely on a 5G or LTE connection for streaming . There is also support for 802.11 AD Wi‑Fi as well as Wi‑Fi 6, which will be ready soon. Also, HTC has equipped its smart hub with an Ethernet port.
In contrast to most mobile hotspots, HTC's 5G Hub weighs about twice as much as a smartphone. This weight is due to the 7,660 mAh it contains. Additionally, it provides the ability to connect phones via USB-C to use it as a battery. The biggest concern with early 5G devices is battery life, and HTC has not yet provided reliable estimates.
HTC uses the Snapdragon 855 processor from Qualcomm, 4GB RAM and 32GB built-in storage in the 5G Hub.
However, the company is not yet ready to announce the price. If we recall the era when 4G was launched, then we can assume that it will not be cheap. You will also need to live in specific cities in the US if you want immediate 5G. Sprint is rolling out the 5G service in nine cities (Atlanta, Chicago, Dallas, Houston, Kansas City, and New York City).
